Gordon London Tuneful and urgent , guitar and harmonica driven songs that tell tales of wistful loss, and downright frustration at political manipulations. The eight tracks are all strong, but it really comes alive for me with 'Age of the Idiot ' , a rallying cry, a spittle flecked rant at the state of the Nation that reminds us that this is not twee Country / Western posturing, this is here and now, with burning anger. Favorite track: Age of The Idiot.

Track Name: Born to Lose
Sometimes you're high, sometimes you're low.
Some things you get and some things you'll never know.
But when it's hard, I don't worry.
We were born to lose.

You lose your money, lose your time.
Lose your health and then you lose your mind.
So when it's hard, I don't worry.
We were born to lose.

And your friends rally round you, and it's fine.
Then they get too close, you push them away it's hard to draw that line.

Sometimes you're wrong, sometimes you're right.
Sometimes it's hazy, sometimes it's black and white.
So when it's hard, I don't worry.
We were born to lose.

And your friends rally round you, and it's fine.
Then they get too close, you push them away it's hard to draw that line.

Sometimes the sun shines, sometimes it rains.
It falls the same on the crazy and the sane.
So when it's hard, I don't worry.
We were born to lose.
Track Name: Is That All There Is?
I was raised int he depths of the darkest south.
Now I'm out on the streets living hand to mouth.
Just a solitary man with a solitary plan.
To make it any way I can.

Never asked for your help but you gave it still.
To stand by and tend for me, healthy or ill.
Then you done got some cash and you done got some "friends".
And I'm on my own again.

Is that all there is? Is that all there is?
You beat and you chained me for all these years.
Is that all there is? Is that all there is?
The sum of all my fears.

Now whether I live or whether I die.
I'll never change the colour of the grass or sky.
But I've seen oh so much, i can feel and I can touch,
And you've only ever had your crutch.

Is that all there is? Is that all there is?
You beat and you chained me for all these years.
Is that all there is? Is that all there is?
The sum of all my fears.

I lost my house, my job, my mind, my youth, my precious time.
My clothes and my money but I guess that's fine.
Because if that's all there is and you haven't any more.
We can finally settle this score.

Is that all there is? Is that all there is?
You beat and you chained me for all these years.
Is that all there is? Is that all there is?
The sum of all my fears.
Track Name: Not a Number
I'm a smoker, I'm a drinker, I'm a wayward thinker.
I'm a liability, and a rock to all but none.
I'm a loser and a doper, I'm a straight up no hoper.
Got my belly full of thunder, and I am not a number.

People in your life they say are only seasons.
Seasons change and games get played without path, without reason.
And I know I've lost a lot of things, but I never lost that hunger.
I'm a broken man, but I am not a number.

And I find it so sadistic, flesh and blood becomes statistic just to fit in with the plans of institutions of the man.
I find it so heartbreaking that we all just sit here waiting, to be categorised and spoonfed all these lies.

And i hope one day we wake up from pour apathetic slumber.
We are here and we're unique, and we are not outnumbered.

And if ever I did wrong i did not do it just to hurt you.
I'm a victim of hard circumstance, I'm sorry for what it's worth.
You know I've done so much that I regret to keep from going under.
I'm a liar and a thief but I am not a number.
Track Name: November Sky
A western wind is blowing in, long gone, those summer days of sin.
Lament the time that passed you by under a cold November sky.

You take the good you take the bad, In the end that's all you had.
Lament the time that passed you by under a cold November sky.

How we burn like brushes in the sun.

What life may give it takes away, it will remove what's here today.
And then the time that passed you by under a cold November sky.

You take the good you take the bad, In the end that's all you had.
Lament the time that passed you by under a cold November sky.

How we burn like brushes in the sun.

Regrets they never did no good, never kept me warm of gave me food.
You cannot change what's come to pass, the dreams that shatter just like glass.
I had a life and I had a home, something to hold and call my own.
But now, now, now, i sleep alone.

What life may give it takes away, it will remove what's here today.
And then the time that passed you by under a cold November sky.

We come from dust, return to dust, and in between, do what we must.
Lament the time that's passed us by, under a cold November sky.

How we burn like brushes in the sun.

Regrets they never did no good, never kept me warm of gave me food.
You cannot change what's come to pass, the dreams that shatter just like glass.
I had a life and I had a home, something to hold and call my own.
But now, now, now, now...

I am the sum of all I've known, this battered husk of broken bones.
For good or bad, I must atone.
I am the earth and I am the trees, the sprawling roots and fallen leaves.
For good or bad, I must atone.
And I sleep alone.

And now the sun is at my back, I move from daylight, to the black.
Lament the time that passed me by, under a cold November sky.

A western wind is moving in, long gone those summer days of sin.
Lament the time that passed us by under a cold November sky.
Track Name: The Other Guy
I've seen your man in town, spending up all his cash.
Say you need some other clown, me? I'll have to pass.
You don't come to me when your river runs dry.
When you're feeling blue and you just wanna cry.
Don't come to me, babe, I'm the other guy.

You got your money man, let him bring home the bread.
And you got your therapist man, to pick you up and take care of your head.
So don't come to me when your river runs dry.
When you're feeling blue and you just wanna cry.
Don't come to me, babe, I'm the other guy.

You got your walking man, to fetch you anything, I know.
And you got your driving man, to take you anywhere that you wanna go.
But don't come to me when the wheels fall off.
When the soles are thin and all the leather's gone soft.
No, don't come to me, babe, I ain't gonna be your boss.

It ain't like I've got no heart.
I thought I was at the finish, now I'm back at the start.
It ain't like I've got no soul.
They gave me life and now I'm out on parole.
It ain't like I couldn't give you it all.
But I'm starting at the bottom, I need further to fall.
Don't come to me, babe,
Unless you're in the mood, I don't need that call.

you got your problems now, everyone does.
But don't come to me, babe, I only want the fun, I don't need no fuss.
So don't come to me when your river runs dry.
When you're feeling blue and you just wanna cry.
Don't come to me, babe, I'm the other guy.
I'm the other guy.
Track Name: Age of The Idiot
We live in the age of the idiot, ignorance is lauded, arrogance applauded.
Nobody gives a fuck about art, just build up an idol, break them down and go back to the start.
That's why I don't really think I want to live in this country anymore.

I was lucky to be raised in a place where, we had time and we had space.
Now I look out to a suffocated city, where there's so much hate, so little pity and I say.
I don't really think I want to live in this country anymore.

With it's girls, playboys, fast cars, nice toys, no wit, nobrain, drives me insane.
This is the future of the once "great nation" well prepare yourself for social devestation I say.
That's why I don't really think I want to live in this country anymore.

Why do our role models get praise for their hair and not what's underneath.
Our politicians all are crooks and everybody's just a filthy fucking thief.
There's a solution to our problem and we wouldn't have to fight, or raise our voice.
Let's all just kill ourselves and in that way I guess we'll know at least we've made some kind of conscious choice.

We live in the age of censorship, let's save the kids from the dangers of the internet.
trouble is they don't get love at home, left on the streets to fight and to learn on their own.
That's why I don't really think I wanna live in this country.
i don't really think that I can give to this country.
I don't really think I want to live in this country anymore.
Track Name: Nomad Blues
Taken from my birthplace, and home of all I love.
Thrust into the middle of nowhere, near enough.
Never taught to fend for myself when the going gets tough.
I'm a writer not a fighter, pa, these people play too rough.

Brought up on a wire, but never treated mean.
Taught right and wrong, fed, fit and strong, my conscience squeaky clean.
But I was never in the right crowd and never picked first for the team.
I'm a city boy deep down, pa, on this country life I ain't so keen.

Saved from hopeless solitude, boredom, insanity and such.
Only a man with arms that big, could ever have that touch.
What with all the things I owe you, Matt, how could I put you through so much.
I love you like no other, man, won't you come back from the verge.

Whisked from one place to another, lost my friends my life my Brother.
Every place I said don't go was all we did and what do you know?
I'm not the one abandoned this time.
i thought I told you anyway, pa, It's at that I draw the line.

Bled dry by the Devil, her accomplice by her side.
My best I did to fight them off, in spite of how I tried.
You can't win a game all by yourself i asked the devil and she cried.
Don't cry for what you're owed when you know damn well it's already died.
Track Name: Razorblade Valentine
Had a girl that loved me but i didn't want that.
Had a girl that i loved, but she had another man.
And I don't believe in fate, but it's like the planets just aligned.
And afforded me the opportunity to make her mine.

So I focused my attentions and set my sight on the prize.
It was just below her stomach, tucked deep between her thighs.
And I don't wanna sound sleazy but I have never made love before.
'Til she was screaming out my windows while I was kicking in the doors.

Razorblade valentine, to your beauty they could not hold a light.
Razorblade valentine, will cut deeper, each and every time.

We'd lie in bed at night and we would talk of all the things that made her cry.
All the aggressors in her life, made her feel like she should die.
And I'm not a violent man, but I would murder every one.
To change her disposition and make right all the wrongs.

Because I'd never dream of hurting such a fragile, precious thing.
Would she feel the beauty if she never felt the sting.
And I'm rarely ever grateful, but to these deadbeats I give thanks.
For never knowing all the beauty that they held within their hands with my.

Razorblade valentine, to your beauty they could not hold a light.
Razorblade valentine, will cut deeper, each and every time.

Cuts me up inside to look at every little scar.
From the times you hated everything, hated what you are.
Where there is no simple answer, it's not a mindset, it's a cancer.
It eats your body, mind and soul, sucks them up into a hole.
Takes the spark out of your brain, drains the life out of your veins.
I won't let you go insane, I'm here to help you with the pain.

I'll help you with a heavy load that's come too much to bear.
If you ever need me, you know that I'll be there.
I may not have a lot, but what I've got I'll give to you.
My razorblade valentine is carved into everything I do.

Razorblade valentine, to your beauty they could not hold a light.
Razorblade valentine, will cut deeper, each and every time.
